Surreal Worlds

Perception of reality is very subjective, so different for each one of us, so why not go a step further and deliberately leave all boundaries and go completely surreal at times?

Very often the basis of my paintings are my dreams, certain motives or main scenes which are the key to their messages. I learned to respect my dreams from theories of Carl G. Jung and his followers who emphasise that in our subconsciousness a wealth of wisdom is hidden. Through trying to give these pictures more space in my life, through putting them in matter on a canvas, a wider view on reality becomes possible as our waking consciousness normally tends to have. Ultimately reality will be perceived as more intense and plastic, in contrary to the ‘flattening’ of reality if one accepts only matter, which may cause depressed moods. For more happiness it might be worth the effort to allow oneself to linger from the limitations of ‘being down to earth’….lets spread the inner wings a little sometimes and fly off the ground…
